Supplements and Nutrition

Supplements, greens, creatine, functional foods, and GLP-1s.

Supplements have a specific problem: taken for general wellness they are food, and food is not a medical expense. Taken to treat a diagnosed deficiency or condition, documented by a clinician before the purchase, they can be reimbursable.

The bar is higher here than in most categories, and the letter has to do real work. It is not enough that a product is healthy. It has to connect to a condition, and the administrator has to be able to see that connection on the page.

Deficiencies with lab results behind them are the strongest cases. Prenatal vitamins, iron, vitamin D, and B12 come up constantly. Broad daily formulas are harder, and the guides say so rather than pretending otherwise.

GLP-1 medications sit in this topic too, though they follow prescription rules rather than supplement rules, which makes them the simplest case in the category.
