Home, Sleep and Air

Mattresses, sleep tech, air purifiers, water filters, ergonomic setups.

Home purchases are where the personal-versus-medical line is drawn most sharply, because almost everything in this category has an obvious non-medical use.

Administrators handle it with a rough test: would you have bought this anyway. A mattress for a bad back, an air purifier for documented asthma, a water filter for a condition affected by contaminants, a weighted blanket for a diagnosed anxiety or sensory disorder. In each case the condition is doing the work, not the product.

Some of these come with a partial reimbursement wrinkle. If a standard version of the item exists and you bought a specialized one, an administrator may only reimburse the difference. The guides flag where that applies rather than promising the full amount.

Ergonomic chairs and standing desks are the newest entries here, and the most dependent on having a real documented back or joint condition rather than a general preference for standing up.
