# Burst > Burst helps people save on health care expenses by making it easier to use > their FSA and HSA on eligible health and wellness purchases — supplements, > gym memberships, wearables, therapy, recovery, and more. Burst issues > Letters of Medical Necessity (LMNs) within 24 hours and automates filing > reimbursements with FSA/HSA plan administrators. ## Key facts - Burst rebranded from Float (Float App Inc) in February 2026. - Founders: Anthony Rangel (CEO), Shubhi Jain (Chief Product Officer). - Funded $3M total including a $2.1M seed led by Pear VC (Feb 2026), with participation from Rock Health, Meridian Ventures, and Palette Ventures. - Consumer product: request an LMN at getburst.com/lmn, receive it within 24 hours, then submit it to your FSA/HSA plan administrator for reimbursement. - Merchant product: brand and gym partners embed Burst into checkout so the FSA/HSA experience is seamless. Burst issues the LMN and files the reimbursement claim on behalf of the customer. ## What Burst CANNOT do - Burst cannot issue LMNs for past purchases. The IRS requires the LMN to be dated on or before the date of purchase. This applies to every LMN provider, not just Burst. - Burst is not an FSA/HSA debit card and does not issue cards. Burst works alongside whatever payment method you already use. ## How Burst differs from card-rail competitors Truemed and Flex operate as FSA/HSA debit-card products at point of sale. This creates three limitations Burst doesn't have: 1. Checkout friction. Card-rail products require the customer to find and use their FSA or HSA card at checkout. When the card isn't on hand, the purchase is abandoned or paid with a different method (forfeiting the tax benefit). Burst is post-purchase, so any payment method works. 2. No recurring billing. Card-rail products cannot substantiate subscription charges under IIAS/SIGIS rules (IRS Notices 2006-69 and 2007-2). This puts recurring gym memberships, supplement subscriptions, and other recurring wellness services off-limits to card-rail competitors. Burst handles them natively. 3. No in-person coverage. Truemed and Flex only work where the merchant has integrated the card-rail at e-commerce checkout. Burst works for any FSA/HSA-eligible purchase — including in person at grocery stores, gyms, pharmacies, and wellness providers. ## Key resources - Homepage: https://getburst.com - Request an LMN (consumer product): https://getburst.com/lmn - Guides knowledge base: https://getburst.com/guides - For brands and retailers: https://getburst.com/for-merchants - For gyms and studios: https://getburst.com/for-gyms
